First question
If yes, the designation generally needs tactile raised characters and Braille. Directional and informational signs generally follow visual-character rules. Some content is exempt.

Use these as a production conversation, then confirm the project-specific requirements with the owner, architect or authority having jurisdiction.
Permanent room and space designations generally need tactile and visual content. Directional and informational signs are usually visual only. Directories, temporary signs posted 7 days or less, occupant names, menus, logos and addresses are common exemptions.
Tactile characters are raised at least 1/32 inch, uppercase, sans serif and non-decorative. Contracted Grade 2 Braille / UEB is placed below the corresponding text, with clearance from borders and other tactile elements.
Measure tactile content from the baseline: the lowest tactile character is at least 48 inches above the finished floor and the highest is no more than 60 inches. At a single door, use the latch side; preserve a clear tactile-reading space beyond the door swing.
When a pictogram identifies a permanent room or space, its field is at least 6 inches high. Raised text and Braille sit below that field. Directional or informational pictograms do not use that tactile descriptor layout.

Routing and laser cutting follow mathematical paths. A JPG, PNG, screenshot or flattened PDF may look correct on screen, but it does not give the machine a line to cut.
The non-negotiable rule
Vector files are built from points, lines and curves. They can be scaled without losing definition and give a router or laser a precise path to follow. Raster images are built from pixels; they are ideal for photographs and printed graphics, but cannot become reliable cut paths just by enlarging them.
Closed vector paths, correct scale, no duplicate lines, and no live strokes unless they are intentionally expanded.

For artwork handoff, check PPI at the final printed dimensions. Enlarging a raster file lowers its effective PPI. 72 PPI is not a universal print minimum: it can work for a large graphic viewed from far away, but it is usually too soft for close-view signs, photos and fine detail.
The hard truth
Scaling a raster image larger only makes the pixels larger. Saving or exporting a JPG, PNG or screenshot as .AI, .EPS or .PDF does not turn it into vector art—it is still a raster image inside a different file container. For routing, laser cutting and contour cutting, the artwork must be redrawn or properly traced into clean, editable vector paths.

Provide AI, SVG, EPS or a PDF with editable vector paths. Outline approved type, close paths and remove duplicate lines. The router follows the vector path.
Raster example
A high-resolution JPG, TIFF or PNG can print beautifully at final size. It is made of pixels, so it cannot directly tell a router or laser where to cut.

Common file trap
A PDF can contain live vector paths, raster images, or both. Confirm the art has editable paths before a routing, laser or contour-cut job enters production. When in doubt, send the source file or request a vector redraw.

Is it a cuttable vector file, a printable raster file, or only a picture of a logo? The answer determines the production path.
Yes, but a PDF is a container, not a file type guarantee. It can hold live vector paths, flattened images, or both. For a cut job, open it in Illustrator, CorelDRAW or another vector editor and confirm the cut shapes are editable paths.
Often for print, yes—if it is exported at final size with adequate resolution. For routing, laser cutting or contour cuts, it still needs clean vector paths. Send the original design link or source export when possible so the production team can confirm it.
Sometimes. Simple one-color marks can be redrawn or traced into usable vector paths. Detailed artwork, gradients, photographs and fuzzy screenshots usually need a proper vector redraw—not an automatic trace.
Send the original source file, any linked images, a PDF proof, final dimensions, material, and whether the job prints, cuts, engraves or all three. A short production note prevents a long remake.
